What is Interferential Therapy?

Simply put, Interferential Current (IFC) Therapy is a deeper form of TENS.  IFC Therapy is widely used by physiotherapists and individuals to treat pain and accelerate the body’s natural healing process.

IFC modulates a high frequency (4,000HZ) carrier waveform that is cancelled out within the tissue. IFC penetrates the skin more deeply and with less discomfort than regular TENS.

Although the frequency is higher in IFC, the impulses are not painful. The sensation can be described as a minor prickly feeling on the skin. If it begins to feel uncomfortable, this means that the intensity for the channels is too high and should be lowered.

Like TENS, Interferential Current Therapy blocks pain signals from reaching the brain and it promotes the creation of endorphins.
